Duo with harp and voice
The interweaving of the delicate sound of both instruments make harp and lute a beautiful combination. They are joined by the crystal clear voice of the harpist, Sólveig Thoroddsen Jónsdóttir. This intimate instrumentation allows the listener to experience the subtlety of the music of former times. We offer the following programmes:
French and English programme
Everyday hecticness recedes before music that invites attentive listening. At the heart of the programme is a practice common in the 16th and 17th centuries, that of using vocal music as a basis for instrumental compositions and improvisation. Interspersed with graceful dances.
Temperamental songs with a rousing guitar accompaniment, mixed with popular dances. Both the harp and the guitar enjoyed great popularity and regard in Spain in the 17th and 18th centuries. Below is a short dance with an improvised prelude.
The guest of honour in this programme is a fourteen-string, almost two-metre-long member of the lute family by the name of theorbo. The programme contains music by a vindictive poet, an aristocrat of German birth and other cheeky Italians.
